Do You Feel Exhausted After 8 Hours of Sleep?
Many of you have continuously gone to the doctor and just been told to relax, meditate, take your dog for a walk, and get yourself more exercise - or even worse take an antidepressant. Of course, while yoga and meditation are great for relaxing and ultimately sleeping, they fail to address the deeper biological imbalances that impact the body's stress response. Keeping your body at a continuous ‘stuck in high alert’ mode, causes you to be unable to shift down and restore yourself daily.
Unfortunately, most western trained physicians have received little training about the cause of chronic stress, blood sugar imbalance, hidden infections, gut issues, and how they disrupt your body's biological balance - causing a rise in cortisol and overworking your adrenals and hormonal imbalance which could very well be the reason why you feel so lousy.
If you're someone who struggles with feeling stressed or anxious, and stress is negatively impacting your life in any way, you might have a gut imbalance. An imbalanced gut can contribute to the overproduction of stress hormones in the body, leaving many people feeling wired and tired. So even after that full 8 hours of sleep, it can definitely leave you feeling like you only got 2!
The good news is that there are helpful things such as probiotic supplements that can help restore a healthy balance of healthy bacteria to your gut, allowing your body to function more effectively on all levels. It will still require a full mindset shift into WANTING to keep your body healthy and functioning at its best.
The gut-brain connection: it's a complicated one. For this reason, figuring out what's causing your stress can be a challenge, to say the least. But it doesn't have to be! At the end of the day, stress is just a symptom. Stress is not your problem - it's just a part of your bigger health picture that needs some attention!
Our bodies are our temples and we have to take care of them. Even something like gut health could be the foundation for your suffering. Becoming aware of what's going on inside your body can seem scary, but it's better than being blindsided by an ailment that has been simmering beneath the surface for years.
Taking steps to improve your gut health may not be easy especially at first but will pay great dividends down the road whether it means a host of new foods that you've never tried before or making small shifts in the choices you make every day. I encourage you to find something that resonates within you, something that you can commit to doing consistently. Because if you don't give yourself an opportunity to heal from within then eventually your stress will win out and you'll be facing some major continual health issues down the road! If your body is a temple then caring for it is an act of reverence, not only for this moment but for all those to come.
